See Sara Run, Bike, and Swim!
************************************ After participating in the San Diego Rock and Roll Marathon and raising $3,800 through Team in Training, I'm back for more! I am doing the Soma quarterman (triathlon: swim .6 miles, bike 28 miles, run 6.55) in Tempe, AZ on October 29th for a great cause. In 1996, my brother was diagnosed with Acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL). After witnessing the support given by the Leukemia Society, I was inspired to raise money by participating in Team in Training. My brother is now a healthy 34 year old living in Ohio. He also completed a century ride (100 miles) to raise money for leukemia research. I am also doing this in honor of Haleigh, my friend's 2 year old granddaughter, who was recently diagnosed with ALL. I also am training in honor of John, a friend of my parents, and Toby, my AZ team honor patient. Leukemia and blood related cancers have affected the lives of many of my loved ones, and this is my opportunity to help do something about it. Thanks to the efforts of the Leukemia Society and Team in Training, the overall five-year survival rate has more than tripled in the past 40 years for patients with leukemia. Please sign my guestbook before you leave! If you are interested in donating, you can go to this website: http://www.active.com/donate/tntdms/slyness in order to donate. |
